MY SEARCH FOR UNITY IN CONFLICTS OF RELIGION, WEALTH, SEX AND SPIRITUALITY|
When too opposing forces are combined, sometimes a revolutionary solution or discovery is found.
The Thesis and Antithesis Creates the Awesome Synthesis
Can Extreme Opposites Be Combined to Create Awesome Solutions?
(Saturday, 12-27-2008, Article 55 -- Updated 12-23-09)
Can extreme opposites be combined to create awesome solutions? When too opposing forces are combined, sometimes a revolutionary solution or discovery is found. The thesis and antithesis creates the awesome synthesis. A "hybrid" of opposites will be explored in the following subjects: fire verses ice, materialism verses spirit, wealth verses renunciation, sex verses celibacy, creationism verses evolution, science verses religion, atheism verses God.
THE ALCHEMY OF FIRE AND ICE
The universe of nature is naturally filled with opposites: yang and yin, day and night, light and dark, heat and cold, summer and winter, wet and dry, life and death, volcanic lava and snow, etc.
Two hopelessly incompatible opposites in nature are fire and ice. It is impossible to mix fire and ice. Try as one might, one immediately extinguishes the fire or the fire immediately vaporizes the ice. It is because these two states of matter, hot plasma and frozen water need completely different conditions to exist. However, when the two are carefully merged in a certain way they can be and are combined creating a third state of matter: hot steam. Hot steam was what started and powered the industrial revolution. Even today, electricity is still being generated by the explosive force of hot steam.

MATERIALISM AND SPIRIT
How difficult is it to combine two extreme opposites that seemingly cannot work together at all? Notice that throughout my website I am rallying against materialism, how bad it is for spirituality, how it seems to encourage egotism, crime, and corruption. Yet if the best of spirituality (wisdom, enchantment, divine love) is used to guide the direction of materiality, then a new value of creation is formed. Without materiality or at least some sort of external reality, there can be no expression of spirituality, and no material body through which it can manifest its ideals of truth, goodness and beauty. Therefore the ideal is the careful balance of spirituality and materialism.
WEALTH AND RENUNCIATION
In this case, it is defining what real wealth really is that helps to merge the two opposites together.
"Again I say to you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God." (Matthew 19:24)
The yogi-Christs of ancient times often tested aspiring disciples by asking them to renounce everything they owned by actually selling all their possessions and giving the proceeds to the poor. Obviously a drastic action such as this is rarely taken! Yet such renunciation is at the heart of what real religion is all about.
The true wealth of any real value is within us, not in the corporeal reality of daily life which really is an illusion from the perspective of cosmic consciousness. Those who love only materialistic wealth and sensuality and have not bothered to study and become inspired by the uplifting realities of Spirit would have severe trouble relating to Matthew 19:24. "The kingdom of God" is not a material place but a state of wholeness that is free forever from material addictions, reincarnation and suffering.
The principle of Matthew 19:24 is illustrated by the overwhelming tendency of anyone who is already well off, successful and satisfied with life not to feel at all inclined to seek "the kingdom of God" within, let alone believe that such a thing exists in the first place. Such materialists (who often must look after spouse, children, property, business, etc.) would tend to have very little reason or motive to turn away from all one's prized possessions and worldly addictions in order to meditate within. The satisfied or complacent "rich man" has far more to renounce or leave behind when trying to open up the realms of Spirit within than one who's life is simple and lacking in material abundance. One must first fully realize the temporary and fleeting nature of all worldly goods and relationships before ever finding enough determination to seek within with all one's heart, because any half-hearted attempt to find that inner "kingdom" can never be successful. The commitment has to be total! The love for God(dess) has to be absolute!
MONEY IS JUST A TOOL THAT COULD BE USED FOR ANY PURPOSE
Regarding the importance of renunciation, the great masters of yoga and mysticism do not necessarily mean it is great to be poor, dependent and non-productive either. Abject poverty and worse, being in debt, can have just as bad an effect as being too rich! If one is too hungry and too cold to meditate, or too busy trying to survive to meditate, or too poor to afford a secure and decent place to live, what good is that either? The only "advantage" of dire lack is that the Spirit of God(dess) is so loving, personal, concerned and kind that it becomes quite easy to notice the loving concern and blessings from Spirit when in such dire need or debt. Spirit (also spirit guides/guardians and any loved ones who have passed over) because of the tremendous love and compassion can't help but act like angels of God to do everything in their power to help the needy, sad, lost and lonely! It is a joy for them with the aid and power of Spirit to help others! Also it is very helpful to meditate in a single minded way and full-force on God as the Source of gold, wealth, love, shelter, or whatever else is lacking to expedite the manifestation what is so sorely needed in one's life.
There is nothing wrong with wealth, money, and cash! It is only the attitude of attachment, desperation and possession that often surrounds this most valuable and useful thing in material existence that causes all the problems related to spirituality. The real source of wealth is service to others and God's abundance in nature. To think of money, material possessions and gold as evil is not correct. For example, the element, "gold" is nothing more than the stardust of one of the heavier elements created during a supernova. Abundance is everyone's birthright, however never forget the ultimate goal of spiritual wholeness and do all one can to align one's life to wholeness by using that wealth only to help each other find wholeness which is by far the most valuable thing of all. Money can never be any more valuable than what it is ultimately used for. It cannot be any more valuable than what it is spent on. If spent on frivolous and temporary material pleasures and entertainments, then its potential value has been denuded to a lower level. If however it has been spent on essential spiritual and physical needs, then its full potential value has most likely been expressed.
To have any sort of repulsive attitude against money could result in more poverty. One is not to be addicted to money, just know it for what it is: opportunity to purchase goods and services which is a tool of great practical value. God(dess) is within the abundance and wealth that surrounds one because it can take care of the needy and be used for great accomplishments. If the money needed to aid your highest goals, aspirations and purpose in life is lacking, by all means meditate without any mental interruption in concentration a half hour a day on wealth, gold coins, $100 bills, etc. and this might help open up opportunities specially suited to one's nature to earn more.
REAL WEALTH IS OF THE SPIRIT
The extremism of Matthew 19:24 helps to define and lay the foundation for the natural way of life of the monk, ascetic, and the true God-seeker renunciant who finds so much value, so much joy, so much love in the Spirit of God(dess) that he or she fully realizes material wealth is an illusion and one's real wealth is the awakening of Spirit within, one's palace as the Himalayas, the roof as the sky, and the air the shroud that clothes the naked body when it is perhaps consisting more of spirit than matter.
Deep within the heart of the human being is the latent power to live without food, clothing or any material crutch. However such power needs to be either inherited and/or gradually developed. Jesus was alluding to this concept, which is our true nature and birthright, as beings completely free of all the baggage of materialism and able to transcend all the stress, limitations and complexities of egoism and material life.
What wealth really is, is the freedom one has to do what one really longs to do. Real wealth is the extent one's needs, suffering, etc. are eliminated and the extent to which one is truly happy and fulfilled. In this sense, real wealth has nothing to do with materialism, but everything to do with total freedom, joy, love and complete fulfillment. Such is the state of the God-realized yogi who is a billionaire without a single possession or piece of property to worry about.
Once one fully understands what wealth really is and where the true source of wealth is, one can clearly see there is no actual conflict between wealth and Spirit, but rather a profound unity of the two: because Spirit indeed is ever overflowing creative source of all things desirable, of worlds without end and infinite fulfillment beyond one's wildest dreams. The wealth of Spirit is everlasting, and never subject to the corruption, instability, stress, and fleeting nature of physical wealth and beauty. Yet at the same time all the success, love, and material wealth the world has to offer is mysteriously and permanently available to any fully tuned mystic, or fully God-realized being who wishes it. To more fully realize how prosperity comes from Spirit (and our spontaneous efforts to create wealth) let me introduce you to Wayne Dyer's guru, Dattatreya Siva Baba.

The Gordian Knot and the Idea of Unity
According to ancient teachings, in the beginning there was a great void. This
void is the creator, with no body, shape or definition. The Creation requires
a definition of space and direction. The Torus tube provides this kind of definition
by using the inside, the outside, and infinity. It can be used as a philosophical
model of creation itself.
The Gordian knot is the simplest of all Torus knots. The shape represents the
idea of the ONE GOD and the Holy Trinity
relation which comes from the ONE and exists in everything (positive, negative and neutral).
The word ONE ("ECHAD" in Hebrew) and
the word LOVE ("AHAVA in Hebrew), has
a numerological value of 13. The number 13 contains the one and the three…
Gordian Knot Pendant
Many people claim they had dreams in which they were able to solve difficult
"Karmatic" personal relations or situations
during the daytime after wearing the Gordian
knot pendant. The reason for this might be that the pendant symbolizes
the idea of unity which binds everything into one.
SEX VERSES CELIBACY AND THE UNITY OF ROMANTIC LOVE AND BRAHMACHARYA
Here again are two very opposing concepts and ways of life that could not be more separate, more conflicting in their approaches. How many say how bad it is to repress or deny the sexual impulse? How wrong it is to "go against natural instincts" and then expect to feel wonderful, pure and holy? I think "holy" really is a rather overused version of the world "whole" which I believe was the original intention of that word. Sex indeed is a biological need deeply rooted in the psychology of the human psyche.
Throughout history can be found the massive conflicts between sensuality and lust and the need to reform, become chaste and go celibate usually for spiritual reasons. The constant pendulum swings from one extreme to the other: from the times sex is needed to procreate and/or to relieve massive urges, and then the stressful situations or times requiring abstinence to conserve one's strength and endurance; and then there are those times when one is simply way too busy and/or tired and exhausted. Sex is an undeniable biological need, yet to harness and master its great force can lead to immense inner power. However if the transmutation process is not complete or not done correctly it can simply lead to more conflict and profound emotional confusion. In other words, one has to either be actively engaged in sex from time to time OR actively engaged in transmutation and purity of thought, OR be actively engaged in fighting off unbearable frustration!
To be sexually drained can be spiritually devastating. Unbridled lust destroys and denudes what is spiritual, and if not in perfect health, can leave one completely depleted, tired and listless until one has rested for several days. The other extreme of complete non-sensuality without transmutation can cause much distress and inner conflict, where the mind tries to focus on some purpose or objective only to be constantly interrupted with thwarted urges and frustrating, unfulfilled desires, especially if the energy of the Holy Spirit (prana and Shakti) is not there.
Only by knitting both ways of life together with the powerful effects of correct eating or alkaline spiritual diet, deep meditation, and bioelectricity or concentrated kundalini energy (prana from nature and/or breathing exercises) at the base of the spine can one finally find real balance. Then one can find the real sexual freedom, or real sexual wholeness without the loss of essential sexual fluid and without the distressing discomfort and frustration that often hits the sexually abstinent. Not in the loss of sexual fluid, and not in the avoidance of sexual fulfillment, but in the liberation of the stream of prana and Shakti in the base of the spine through the conservation and transmutation of the absolutely vital sexual fluid is lasting fulfillment found.
How is prana liberated in the base of the spine? One needs to either meditate deep within the realms of pristine nature and/or meditate with a spiritual partner (soul mate) and/or other devotees who can provide this vital energy needed to transmute. Everyone emits an energy field or aura that can be used to heal and help each other grow spiritually and transmute sexual energy into love energy. The most lucky people on Earth are the ones who have a partner in life who is willing to take part in this most sacred process in a non-sensual yet sincerely loving and affectionate way, which involves sitting with one's partner and meditating deeply together in spiritual communion. Very important to keep one's mind pure of all sexual thoughts and desires otherwise severe frustration, etc. will occur; to fast on large amounts of water for short periods once or twice a week to help increase the amount of prana, purity, vitality and ecstasy in the body; have cold showers, baths, and/or swim in cold water; and have regular exercise. Another aspect that might help is devotional or spiritual music that opens up the heart center into deep moods of love and inspiration. To be creative artistically and spiritually, and to get away from physical consciousness as much as possible through deep meditation and even astral projection if that option is available, would help to keep one distracted from the limiting and highly tempting tendencies of physical nature.
Celibacy & Transmutation of Sexual Energy
Just as humankind has learned to master and control many natural forces in the world, a yogi (or yogini) is a very special (and unfortunately rare) individual who's inclination is to control and master the inner forces of nature, such as thoughts, emotions, cravings, and desires, especially the biological force of sexual energy. The yogi or yogini manages to successfully master his or her emotions and sexual energy not by force, but through purification of brain and body cells and then by absorption of vital prana. The transmutation of sex into inner peace, bliss, joy and love is the wonderful end result. One of the greatest mysteries of life is sex, sexual desire, and sexual energy. However, when sexual energy is lost in the process of reproductive activity, the spiritual life suffers.
One knows one is transmuting when one feels a thrilling, pulsing, radiating, stream of subtle light and deeply inspiring love welling up from the base of the spine into every cell of the body. It is a sense of lightness, tranquility, calmness, and space from within every organ including the creative centers of one's anatomy. One can then live in a constant universal non-sensual "orgasm" of love and ecstasy. As soon as one starts to allow the indulgence of sexual thoughts, fantasies and/or sensuality, the resulting excitement(s) (adrenal rushes) escalate out of control into unsustainable levels and therefore must ultimately come to an end, requiring a long period of rest (days to months depending on one's age, health and vitality) before such magnificent potential for ecstasy can build up again. Therefore keeping sensuality under one's strict control is an absolute necessity and of key importance.
How strict one needs to be with self-control depends on what one wants to accomplish; a temporary thrill or series of thrills is fine, however the long-term goal of achieving a real spiritual liberation from all the physical limitations and problems of living on Earth is sure to remain illusive until one successfully and permanently sacrifices (or trades in) the lower fulfillment for the higher fulfillment.
There is nothing wrong or evil with sensuality; it just has a rather exorbitant price tag on it especially if one is not well, very old and/or depressed; or serious about experiencing the highest samadhi and finding permanent bliss. Of course any form of sensuality leads directly toward the inevitable loss of vital sexual fluid that forces itself to happen sooner or later. Extreme self-knowledge, self-awareness, and self-control are vital aspects of the transmutation process. The most wise, dedicated, and serious yogis, truth seekers, and mystics constantly strive to stay away as far as possible from the often overwhelming lure of sensuality in his or her noble quest for the ultimate samadhi.
The time period varies dramatically from person to person, situation to situation, however it usually takes years of conserving and then unifying vital sexual energy with the purifying powers of kundalini prana and shakti for the magnificent marriage of Shakti and Shiva to take place, resulting in the ultimate sexual liberation, sexual freedom, sexual wholeness, love, ecstasy, joy, and liberation from all suffering.
Celibacy does not necessarily mean the absence of romantic love which includes hugging, kissing, and much affection. Romantic love can also be greatly enhanced by celibacy which in turn can be enhanced by the energy of love and by the auric/kundalini interaction of energy with one's lover. The sacred teachings of Gnostic Christianity seem to contain a very good grasp of much of what I am trying to convey, especially regarding the "unity" of celibacy and romantic love--a very interesting concept indeed! Throughout history it has been expressly forbidden to reveal the secrets of the Great Arcanum; because of its sensitive nature, esoteric knowledge, and noble ideals, the church authorities did not want the average person to know anything about it. CREATIONISM VERSES EVOLUTION
One of the greatest shocks in the history of humanity was the discovery of the theory of evolution. Having completely contradicted so many people's long held religious beliefs, a massive surge in debates and arguments for and against evolution occurred with the intellectuals and scientists on one side and fundamentalist Christians on the other.
My view is that both sides are too insufficient to explain everything. Of course the idea that God created everything in 7 days is most bizarre. (Unless God had also somehow instantly created the 13.5 billion year history of the universe!) Yet billions of years of blind sequencing and mutating guided by natural selection sounds equally incredible and is very disturbing in that it tends to purge life of any meaningfulness of its existence. Did anyone stop to consider that the answer may be a combination of both? There could also be an extraterrestrial origin or influence to evolution to further complicate matters. Humans are "star folk" in a cosmic ocean of suns who could easily have relatives and ancestors from other solar systems. I won't get into that aspect to avoid pages of extra writing, however there is extensive evidence of higher intelligent forces influencing evolution that are extraterrestrial, metaphysical and quantum (divine).
The answer really is found by asking what life really is and by observing or taking note of the almost absolute sheer complexity of any life form, especially those that breathe, act and think on the level of the human being. There is very little else in the universe more complex than a human being, and much knowledge modern and ancient showing that life not only has physical expression and form, but also many metaphysical layers of vibrational energy, emotion, mind and consciousness not accepted or taken seriously by traditional mainstream science and traditional western religion.
I can safely say that evolution does take part in creation, however on many levels, not just physical. Yes we are constantly created, molded and guided by higher intelligences or natural guiding principles, laws both physical and metaphysical. Yet natural and sexual selection also always had and always will continue to play a huge role in the physical part of this grand developmental process. If evolution did not exist, we would all still be single points of divine energy incarnating as single cells in an oceanic broth! The real direction of evolution is from a divine spark of simplicity to an awesomely dynamic cohesive complexity of memories and consciousness. All life forms are all related, with the chimpanzees and Sasquatch being some of the closest relatives of the human race. This fact does not necessarily mean that humans evolved from apes, but it does mean that humans share most of the same genes as the apes, and therefore shares most of the same origins as apes, and like the other species on our world, all are ultimately evolving toward higher expressions.
Today's anthropologists now have access to vast amounts of information, yet the depth to time, mystery and complexity of the history of the human race is far, far beyond what the average person can know or imagine. When the whole truth is revealed, scientists are definitely in for some major shocks and surprises, especially when they find out that a civilization called Atlantis did in fact exist over ten thousand years ago, and it ended when a meteor struck a section of the west Atlantic.
That "New Age" cliche that "you are a child of the universe" is quite true, and philosophically all conscious beings can still be considered like everything else, children of the One God(dess) all materializing from the same source the same consciousness or quantum field of all laws and possibilities. Some of the latest scientific thinking no longer clashes with the idea of there being a loving, universal Creator. All realty is a sea of Love giving rise to endless creative expressions of that Love.
SCIENCE AND RELIGION
Many have rejected all literal interpretations and dogmatic concepts of religion and become agnostics and atheists in the illusion dissolving light of science. Literal interpretations of religion look absurd in relation to recent scientific knowledge that has exploded exponentially. However this explosion of scientific knowledge is no reason whatsoever to reject outright the existence of God and of the afterlife, because "God" has reappeared in some very strange places of scientific research such as quantum physics and the higher dimensions of string theory. And a much more elaborate description of the afterlife is also materializing through those who have "died" and "returned" with vivid memories of a most definite existence beyond this one. Remote viewing, extrasensory perception, and the out-of-body experience have seriously challenged traditional scientific thinking! Modern spiritualists such as Leslie Flint have also shocked traditional science with their incredible paranormal voice seance recordings, leaving the traditional scientist in a state of awe and confusion as to how in the world could such voices manifest so much vivid and clear verifiable information without a trace of any trickery.
The Scientific Reality of Life After Death
What do the most reliable mystics, yogis and mediums say regarding the afterlife? You will learn far more about the perfectly natural and absolutely beautiful realms of life after death than most people ever do in a lifetime. This information is as scientifically verified and complete as I can possibly make it. How can one be certain there is an afterlife? Why does mainstream academic science continue to reject the afterlife? Is there any real scientific proof or evidence that there is life after death? If so, what is the afterlife really like? Knowing that we all must ultimately face death someday, it is extremely important to know all one can regarding the afterlife. Go here.
If it were not for the past few centuries of continuous open-minded scientific research, we would still be in the Dark Ages. Without religion, there would be no moral direction. The practical advancements of science can lead to disaster if scientists are not guided by the spiritual wisdom religion is supposed to create. Imagine the havoc that "mad" scientists with no moral values could do! Without the originally intended concepts of universal love taught by many religions, we would now be living in a very sinister "New World Order" ruled by technology and fear. Science needs to become more holistic and spiritual while religion needs to become much less dogmatic and open to new truths. The aspects of religion closest to pure spirituality would be the best aspects of religion. As soon as the finest individuals of science also include spirituality in their explorations of nature, the world will soon know the most profound explosion of liberating knowledge ever. As soon as science puts aside its overwhelming tendency toward closed minded materialistic skepticism and seriously sets its high resolution "telescope" on the realms beyond death, we will all be in for the most incredible awakening ever. The discovery of dark matter (astral matter) in the universe is the first step in this direction, however until mainstream scientists are actually inventing ways to communicate with the residents of the higher spheres, we still have a long way to go.
ATHEISM AND GOD
Knowing how science and religion can combine to form a much vaster and transcendent way of thinking and exploration of the universe, there is hope for aligning two incredibly incompatible opposites by sheer understanding of what really is in the substance of all reality as we experience it.
On the one hand are the materialistic scientists who think that the scientific method has systematically removed all traces for a need of a Supreme Being to explain all the marvels of the natural world. Yet for things to exist, there has to be some amazing intelligence behind it all, a Something beyond all understanding and comprehension that seems to underlie all things that exist.
Assuming that God is the aloof mystical being with a flowing white beard sitting on a transcendental golden throne in some distant corner of the universe above and separated from all creation is indeed preposterous. When that terrible judgement day arrives, we will all be judged, condemned and punished for our sins by this awesome figure. In that regard, it is no wonder that there are so many atheists! Science immediately dispels such a crazy idea.
However, only a certain, immature concept of God has actually been disproved by science, whereas on the other hand a marvelous, new and outstanding Being of Light has emerged in many near-death experiences who's separation of an independent consciousness from the physical brain and body has been scientifically verified by some outstanding researchers. Nearly all who have gone through a near-death experience and even some astral travelers reported encountering something of an oversoul who exists as a conglomeration of all souls both past and present, or one who has always been with us and lovingly guiding us throughout our lifetimes and lifetimes to come. For an outstanding example, read about Mellen-Thomas Benedict's near-death experience here.
This amazingly versatile Being of Light can appear in any form and be anyone. For many of us, She can be the Goddess or the Divine Mother. Another aspect can be the Christ, the Buddha, the Krishna, or one's own favorite guru, and even more bizarre, one's best friend or next door neighbor! God can be or speak through anything or anyone. When I mean that God is versatile, there is no limit to His or Her versatility! We can feel the presence of God(dess) when we pray with a sincere attitude or when we feel lonely and long for the love of someone nearest and dearest.
What does science say about God? There is an underlying field of energy that seems to encompass the entire universe. This infinitesimally subtle field of Zero Point Energy or Pranic Principle seems to uphold all the atoms in the universe and provide the very medium for all light to travel through. This One Substance that all things come from is the Great Oneness or Wholeness that has to be the Creator of all phenomenon and the Source of all reality, and therefore our spirits and our souls. Prana or this amazing Zero Point Energy or Divine Mother Creative Power saturates the whole universe with its universal love.

The Revelation of Oneness: Dialogues on Non-duality and Spiritual Awakening by Jeff Foster - Product Description - The dialogues contained in The Revelation of Oneness point to the possibility that the spiritual search, and indeed all the seeking of the mind, can come to an end once and for all. And in the absence of that search, there can be a clear seeing that all there is, is Oneness. And in the clarity of Oneness, life loses its heaviness, and what is is always enough. Some people have called this "spiritual awakening"; however, it's not something complicated, and it's not reserved for the lucky few. It's an awakening as simple and obvious as the sound of the rain splish-splashing up on the roof. It's a bit like having a dream, and getting lost in it, and then waking up, and opening your eyes, and looking around and realizing that yes, of course, it was just a dream.
The Quest For Unity: AN APPEAL FOR ONENESS AMONG ALL BELIEVERS IN CHRIST by Gene Shelburne and Joe Barnett - Editorial Review - "a deeply inspiring book that took a great deal of courage to write." -- Jim McKee, pastor
"helpful for those trying to make sense of their heritage and its relation to the larger body of Christ." -- Rubel Shelly, author of The Jesus Proposal, and The Jesus Community
Product Description - In compelling narrative and crisp biblical exposition, this book explores The Dream, The Journey and The Destination of unity.
Bridge To Unity: Unified Field-Based Science and Spirituality by R. W. Boyer Ph.D. - Product Description - The book is a logically consistent view of nature. Carefully bridging scientific theory and empirical experience in the inner laboratory of the mind, it illumines the most challenging issues in modern science--the mind-body problem, the nature of space-time, cosmological origins, determinism vs. free will, the hard problem of consciousness, and higher human development. Insightful quotes from leading historical scholars and contemporary scientists connect the dots in quantum physics, cognitive science, and neuroscience beyond the fragmented physicalist worldview to an empirically verifiable unified field-based understanding.
Facets of Unity: The Enneagram of Holy Ideas by A. H. Almaas - Editorial Reviews - Amazon.com Review - A.H. Almaas presents "the holy ideas" that are the spiritual realities of the nine personality types that the Enneagram reflects. For those unfamiliar with the Enneagram, he includes an introduction to the structure of psychological typecasting rediscovered by Oscar Ichazo, founder of the Arica School, who gives this book its high credentials by having written the Foreword. While other books on the subject explain the different characteristics and behaviors of each of the nine fixations or types, Almaas expounds here on how the disconnection from each holy idea leads to the development of its corresponding fixation. Then he provides keys to unlock them. For example, the "seven" type's holy idea is "holy wisdom," which Ichazo defines as "The awareness that reality exists as a succession of moments, each experienced as the present, and that it is only by existing in the present that the constant unfolding of the Cosmos can be experienced ... can real work be done, and results achieved." --Randall Cohan
Review - "Lucid, precise and infinitely helpful to seekers everywhere. I heartily recommend Facets of Unity to Enneagram enthusiasts, to my own students of inner knowing, and to followers of every spiritual tradition." --Helen Palmer, author of The Enneagram
"Serious students of the Enneagram will find much of value in this book. . . . The Holy Ideas can be highly challenging material, but Almaas presents them with clarity, thoroughness, and grace such that we can all gain a taste of the deeper truths of this remarkable system." --Don Richard Riso and Russ Hudson, authors of Personality Types
Oneness and Separateness: From Infant to Individual by Louise Kaplan - Product Description - This closely observed and lyrically written exploration of the journey each baby makes from oneness with his mother to his "second birth" as a unique psychological being is being reissued to tie in with the release of Kaplan's No Voice Is Ever Wholly Lost.
Oneness: Great Principles Shared by All Religions, Revised and Expanded Edition by Jeffrey Moses - Editorial Reviews - From Library Journal - Moses, a freelance writer and advertising executive with a special interest in meditation and stress reduction techniques, draws on his studies of world scriptures to offer this interfaith compilation of assorted verses affirming similar principles, e.g., the Golden Rule. For each of the 28 principles included, Moses begins with brief thoughts of his own (about half a page), then offers a two-page spread of five or six relevant scriptural passages. This is an interesting idea, but the book would be more useful if the passages were identified explicitly as to source, rather than just being designated ``Islam,'' ``Christianity,'' ``Buddhism,'' etc. Copyright 1989 Cahners Business Information, Inc. --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

The Self-Evolving Cosmos: A Phenomenological Approach to Nature's Unity-in-Diversity (Series on Knots and Everything) by Steven M. Rosen - Editorial Reviews - The Self-Evolving Cosmos is an exciting, creative, interdisciplinary, and scholarly work recalling the collaboration between Hermann Weyl and Edmund Husserl on the function of mathematical intuition in cosmological physics. It is a major, ground-breaking, poetic work of powerful intelligence illustrating the use of a promising new research tool in the challenging areas of quantum and cosmological physics. --Patrick A Heelan, PhD, William A Gaston Professor of Philosophy, Georgetown University
Product Description - This unique book offers an original way of thinking about two of the most significant problems confronting modern theoretical physics: the unification of the forces of nature and the evolution of the universe. In bringing out the inadequacies of the prevailing approach to these questions, the author demonstrates the need for more than just a new theory. The meanings of space and time themselves must be radically rethought, which requires a whole new philosophical foundation. To this end, the book turns to the phenomenological writings of Maurice Merleau-Ponty and Martin Heidegger. Their insights into space and time bring the natural world to life in a manner well-suited to the dynamic phenomena of contemporary physics.
In aligning continental thought with problems in physics and cosmology, the book makes use of topology. Phenomenological intuitions about space and time are systematically fleshed out via an unconventional and innovative approach to this qualitative branch of mathematics. The author s pioneering work in topological phenomenology is applied to such topics as quantum gravity, cosmogony, symmetry, spin, vorticity, dimension theory, Kaluza-Klein and string theories, fermion-boson interrelatedness, hypernumbers, and the mind-matter interface.
Contents: - Introduction: Individuation and the Quest for Unity; The Obstacle to Unification in Modern Physics; The Phenomenological Challenge to the Classical Formula; Topological Phenomenology; The Dimensional Family of Topological Spinors; Basic Principles of Dimensional Transformation; Waves Carrying Waves: The Co-Evolution of Lifeworlds; The Forces of Nature; Cosmogony, Symmetry, and Phenomenological Intuition; The Self-Evolving Cosmos; The Psychophysics of Cosmogony.
The Science of Oneness: A Worldview for the Twenty-First Century by Malcolm Hollick - Product Description - The Science of Oneness weaves modern science together with experiential, spiritual and cultural knowledge. It presents a scientifically valid vision of reality that is conscious, creative, loving, and purposeful. It balances openness to all sources of knowledge with critical evaluation of their reliability. Each chapter offers experiential activities, thought-provoking questions and guided meditations to stimulate intuitive understanding. It provides a coherent world view for cultural creatives and the holism movement.
From the Author - I wrote this book because I wanted to help make the world a better place. Along the way my life was changed by what I discovered.
After decades studying the issues of environmental destruction, poverty and war, I concluded that the foundations for a better future are missing. We are at a time in the history of civilization when the certainties of the old worldview have disintegrated, and the concrete of a new worldview has not yet set. A key task, it seems to me, is to lay new philosophical and spiritual foundations on which we can build our future. New technologies, policies and laws are vital, but they will fail without strong foundations. Nothing less than radical change in our understanding of the universe, and of the meaning and purpose of life will do.
So I set out to explore what was happening at the cutting edges of science in order to create a coherent picture of the universe and our relationship to it that could form the basis of a more just, sustainable and peaceful future. What I found exceeded my wildest expectations, leading me on a personal journey that transformed my beliefs and life. Rather than the mechanical, alienating, meaningless vision of reality bequeathed to us by classical science, I found a living, conscious, interconnected, meaningful and purposeful universe of which we are co-creators. And I found a vision which resonates strongly with the beliefs and wisdom of many ancient spiritual traditions.
In exploring the emerging worldview, my intellectualism became balanced by an appreciation of experiential, intuitive, spiritual and other ways of knowing. I began to understand the limitations of human knowledge, and to look for ways to test the reliability of what we think we know that complement the scientific method. So the science of oneness is more than a coherent portrait of reality; it is also a holistic way of knowing that comes from personal experience, intuition and an inner sense of rightness as well as from reason and modern science.
My aim was not just to satisfy intellectual curiosity, but to change lives and the world. If this book is to fulfil my aims, it is important that you, my readers engage critically with the ideas presented. Many of the concepts may be new to you, and you may feel ill-equipped to evaluate them. But you have your own life experience, imagination, and conceptual frameworks by which you make sense of the universe. I encourage you to bring all these, to bring your whole self, to bear on the material. Question and challenge it, and reinterpret its meaning where appropriate. Seek what makes coherent sense of the whole of reality, not just its separate parts; and seek what makes sense physically, emotionally and spiritually as well as intellectually. Trust your inner voice, not mine. Remodel your understanding of reality as necessary, and act out of what you learn.
The journey of this book began more than a decade ago. I am not the person I was when I set out. My ideas have evolved and developed, and are continuing to shift. This book is not a set of ideas to be accepted or rejected, but an invitation to join me on a life-long voyage of discovery. At times the terrain is dry, and the going hard and steep. I've focused on key concepts and avoided technical jargon as far as possible, but it's still a rugged journey. But the view from the summit is stupendous, giving new and glorious insights into the nature of the universe, our planet and ourselves; and bringing a new sense of identity and purpose, and a new hope for the future.
Sacred Sex: A Spiritual Celebration of Oneness in Marriage by Tim Alan Gardner and Scott M. Stanley - Editorial Reviews - From Publishers Weekly - "How can I mention holiness and sex in the same phrase?" asks Tim Gardner, the author of Sacred Sex: A Spiritual Celebration of Oneness in Marriage. "Well, for one thing, because God does." So begins this thoughtful let's-talk-about-sex book for Christians. Gardner encourages readers (i.e., married couples) to practice unconditional acceptance of their partners' bodies and to have a clear understanding of why God created sex in the first place. The "big O," according to Gardner, "is not orgasm; it's oneness." Gardner provides excellent biblical and cultural examples of why the union of husband and wife should, as the New Testament explains it, represent the mystery of the relationship between Christ and the church.

Product Description - For years, Christians have been told that sex is God's creation, designed by him as a gift to husbands and wives. Yet few couples actually experience sex as a spiritual, God-ordained experience. Rather than admit their lack of fulfillment, many couples hide their disappointment and confusion, while others attempt to solve the problem through better sexual technique.
Unfortunately, all the advice on improved technique fails to explain the one thing that makes sense of it all. Despite the proliferation of resources to enhance sexual satisfaction, couples continue to struggle in their sexual relationship. In fact, author and licensed counselor Tim Gardner estimates that as few as 2 percent of married couples ever experience a truly exciting, energizing, and soul-touching physical bond. But now, that can change.
A couple's sexual relationship has a far higher purpose than pleasure or procreation. Scripture makes it clear that sex is the one thing on earth that joins two people into one. Now readers can learn how to approach marital sex in a way that brings the fulfillment of true oneness. Sacred Sex shows how they can experience a beautiful, God-ordained life of intimacy that blesses them far beyond the bedroom walls, serves as an act of worship to God, and touches their hearts and souls in ways they never could have imagined.

The Miracle of Oneness by Ed Malone - Product Description - God's goal for marriage is oneness:
For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife and the two will become one flesh (Eph. 5:31).
God's standard for relationship with Him is the mystery of oneness as well:
I in them and You in me . . . (John 17:23).
The mystery, Christ in you . . . (Col. 1:27).
Sadly, many Christians never even come close to either of these desires that God has for us.
Without oneness with God, oneness in marriage remains an illusive quest. Learning to be spiritually empowered in the pursuit of both of these goals is the key.
The Miracle of Oneness seeks to be your guide as you allow God to fulfill His great desire for you and your marriage.
Ed Malone is pastor of Christ's Community Church in Cookeville, Tennessee, with 35 years experience as pastor and counselor. He and his wife, Gale, have been married for 40 years and enjoy life together on their farm. They have two children and eight grandchildren. Ed holds an M.Div. degree from Southern Seminary.

The Holographic Universe by Michael Talbot - Editorial Reviews - From Library Journal - Author Talbot writes that ". . . there is evidence to suggest that our world and everything in it. . . are also only ghostly images, projections from a level of reality so beyond our own it is literally beyond both space and time." Hence, the title of his book. Beginning with the work of physicist David Bohm and neurophysiologist Karl Pribram, both of whom independently arrived at holographic theories or models of the universe, Talbot explains in clear terms the theory and physics of holography and its application, both in science and in explanation of the paranormal and psychic. His theory of reality accommodates this latest thinking in physics as well as many unresolved mind-body questions. This well-written and fascinating study is recommended for science collections. --Hilary D. Burton, Lawrence Livermore National Lab., Livermore, Cal.

The God Theory: Universes, Zero-point Fields, And What's Behind It All by Bernard Haisch - Editorial Reviews - From Booklist - Physicist Haisch thinks "Let there be light" isn't just a randomly chosen phrase for the Creation. Indeed, he believes that in the mysteries of light rest clues to the deepest mysteries of the universe, something he calls God, though he doesn't mean by that word the personification that some believers prefer. A scientist who has worked in astrophysics and theoretical physics, Haisch has retained his wonder at the universe from childhood, as he describes in the affecting memoir with which the book begins. Many scientists find no tension between their profession and the profession of belief in divinity, but Haisch goes one step further by attempting to find a scientific explanation for the phenomenon generally called God. Light, that familiar but utterly mysterious force, is the key to such an understanding. Readable and engaging, Haisch will be embraced by those concerned with finding ways of reconciling science and religion. --Patricia Monaghan - Copyright © American Library Association. The Message That Comes From Everywhere: Exploring the Common Core of the World's Religions and Modern Science by Gary L. Beckwith - Product Description - For centuries, the world's religions have squabbled over their differences. At times it escalates and there are wars or even terrorist acts like we've recently seen. Some say there will never be peace because of the disparity between the religions and their teachings.
But if we choose to focus on the similarities between the religions, we find they outweigh the differences. In fact, there seems to be an underlying message that all the world's religions share.
In his timely new book, author Gary Beckwith does just that - based on ten years of research he explores the similarities rather than the differences. Included in the discussion are the scientific discoveries of our time that seem to validate the message of the religions.
News reports and commentaries today often mention that Islam, Judaism, and Christianity are connected and share similar teachings, but what are the specifics? The book uses plain language and specific examples of how all the religions agree, including Eastern religions like Hinduism, Buddhism, and Taoism.
Many have commented that what the world needs now is peace between the religions. The first step is learning about the similarities, and this book (published a mere 10 days before the tragic terrorist events in New York and Washington) can certainly play a role in that effort. Reading it will give you a new perspective on religion, and a renewed hope for world peace.
Discover the Power Within You: A Guide to the Unexplored Depths Within by Eric Butterworth - Editorial Reviews - "A wonderful book...truly a life-changer, as many readers know. This book really does release the power within us all." --Norman Vincent Peale
"For many, this book will be an answer in itself. For many more, it will open doors to ever-richer depths." --Ira Progoff

He explains the universality of such vital subjects as: how to succeed; how to pray; how to find confidence; how to overcom personal problems; and how to find healing. The Field Updated Ed: The Quest for the Secret Force of the Universe by Lynne Mctaggart - Editorial Review - From Publishers Weekly - McTaggart, an investigative journalist (What Doctors Don't Tell You), describes scientific discoveries that she believes point to a unifying concept of the universe, one that reconciles mind with matter, classic Newtonian science with quantum physics and, most importantly, science with religion. At issue is the zero point field, the so-called "dead space" of microscopic vibrations in outer space as well as within and between physical objects on earth. These fields, McTaggart asserts, are a "cobweb of energy exchange" that link everything in the universe; they control everything from cellular communication to the workings of the mind, and they could be harnessed for unlimited propulsion fuel, levitation, ESP, spiritual healing and more. Physicists have been aware of the likelihood of this field for years, McTaggart writes, but, constrained by orthodoxy, they have ignored its effects, which she likens to "subtracting out God" from their equations. But, McTaggart asserts, "tiny pockets of quiet rebellion" against scientific convention are emerging, led by Ed Mitchell, an Apollo 14 astronaut and founder of the Institute for Noetic Sciences, an alternative-science think tank. McTaggart writes well and tells a good story, but the supporting data here is somewhat sketchy. Until it materializes, McTaggart may have to settle for being a voice in the wilderness. The Unity of William James's Thought (Vanderbilt Library of American Philosophy) by Wesley Cooper - Editorial Review - Cooper does a masterful job of presenting the various positions in the neo-pragmatic movement regarding Jamesís writings. --The Journal of Speculative Philosophy
Product Description - No philosopher's writing is more charming that James's. Few philosophers have been subjected to such intense psychological speculation as James. Fewer still have had so many non-philosophical stages to their careers. For all of these reasons, professional philosophers are wary of his philosophy, which is typically dismissed as fragmented or merely popular. Wesley Cooper opposes this traditional view, arguing instead that there is a systematic philosophy to be found in James's writings. His doctrine of pure experience is the binding thread that links his earlier psychological theorizing to his later epistemological, religious, and pragmatic concerns.
To make this case as compelling as possible, Cooper provides a two-level approach to James's philosophical system: the metaphysical level of pure experience and the empirical level of science and everyday life. Making sense of James is partly a matter of seeing that, on a given occasion, he is writing at one level or the other.

If you like to know more about the books, and what moves us take a tour around the previously mentioned websites. Why did we choose \'the other you\' as the name of the author? It is our book, your book and everyone\'s book. It is the mirror being shown to us all. The Other is showing us information about ourselves which we can see and feel. If we can see each other as another me, we will be more loving towards ourselves, the people around us and the situations we find ourselves in. By doing so we create more space for inner freedom and joy in life. That is the driving factor behind our choice not to go with our given names and why we chose "the other you". That it would eventually result in us finding our own self worth and how all that would influence us, we are now discovering. We can materialize something that would result in the Oneness, but first we had to understand that we are on the path of returning to the oneness and that we needed to create those steps that would lead us there. Oneness is often seen as something that you would have to step into and make adjustments. True oneness can only be achieved if you are prepared to speak your own truth. By doing so you can then find out if you are in line with each other and truly create from yours and the others truth. This is only possible if you totally understand your own self worth, and no matter what the circumstances are you always speak your truth. In this case it was with each other, making it possible to look closely at what our task was inside this whole plan, making clear that it came from within not needing any confirmations from the outside. If you lack self worth, you subconsciously look for recognition, compensation and verification from other sources because you were not able to find it inside yourself. Basically what happens is, is that something is stirring inside because you are not speaking your whole truth. When you speak and feel your truth then it is no longer possible to lose your identity and the feeling of oneness is tangible. Should it appear that you are both speaking your truth and you do not seem to be able to agree, this opens up the possibility to part and both to continue on your own journeys. This will create an opportunety for both to grow. By doing this we create space within ourselves for joy and inner freedom.
SOULMATE COSMOLOGICAL ACTION: The path to Culminated Soulmate Union, and the Bliss of Cosmic Oneness, bound and centered by the Love of Yahweh. by Henry Monteith - Product Description - Dr. Henry C. Monteith, a mathematical metaphysician, and Erika G. Monteith, a pianist and pedagogue of music, were ordained by Yahweh, from the beginning of time, to culminate their soulmate union and experience the awesome bliss of its oneness enfolded in its light and love. As we emerged from the womb, our first cries were yearnings to find each other in this lifetime because the inevitability of it was ingrained within our subconscious minds. We evolved through the agonies of war and painful inflictions, to our bodies and minds, generated by disease, physiological defects, and man's inhumanity to man. Gradually, as we learned the lessons, taught by our enlightening experiences, our spirits moved closer and closer together. Then suddenly, after 62 years of evolving and searching, we found each other at last! Then the heavens opened; and as the light of Yahweh shined down upon us, it bound us together with its awesome love and ordained that we know the bliss of its oneness forever. in this book we describe the path we followed and the sun-cross we carried to make our personal contribution to the evolution of the cosmos and obtain our crown of eternal bliss. It can only serve as a guide to help you find your unique path along which you must carry the sun-cross for yourself. Soulmate oneness is not a gift that is handed down from heaven, it must be earned by evolving through the agony and the ecstasy of life's experiences.

The Hidden Face of God: Science Reveals the Ultimate Truth by Gerald L. Schroeder - Editorial Reviews - From Publishers Weekly - Israeli physicist Schroeder extends the approach taken in previous works (Genesis and the Big Bang; The Science of God) by reviewing biological phenomena whose intricate complexity hints at "wisdom within wisdom" in the design of the universe. "If we could see within as easily as we see without, every aspect of existence would be an unfolding encounter with awe; almost a religious experience even for a secular spectator," he writes. Although Schroeder can claim no special expertise in cell biology or neuroscience, his enthusiasm and sense of wonder are personally engaging, and his metaphysical speculations reflect a wry humility that cannot be taken for granted in this genre. Schroeder writes in two moods, sometimes discerning the transcendent unity of the divine wisdom with unequivocal clarity, sometimes tracing the pattern only faintly and accentuating the continuing hiddenness of God. Although he expresses obvious impatience with orthodox Darwinism and the "materialist superstition" of hard-core reductionists like Richard Dawkins and Steven Pinker, he is gracious toward religious skeptics and often addresses them as his primary audience. While many in the scientific community have been openly distrustful of the "intelligent design" movement and suspicious of its (generally Christian) religious associations, Schroeder's professional stature and his nonliteralistic approach to the Bible may help him connect with a wider readership. From Booklist - Schroeder takes the widespread perception that science disproves religion and turns it on its head: from cosmology to neurology, the latest research makes sense only if viewed from a metaphysical perspective. The strict materialism that excludes all purpose, choice, and spirituality from the world simply cannot account for the data pouring in from labs and observatories. Nor can it explain the thrill of transcendence that occasionally pierces ordinary lives. Well schooled in the rigors of the sciences, Schroeder knows too much about natural complexity to try to wring some tidy set of doctrines out of the cosmos. Rather, it is an ineffable shiver of the divine, a deep-down stirring of wonder, that he discovers in the furthest reaches of quantum physics, glossed with the poetry of the Hebrew prophets and the mysteries of the kabbalah. At the heart of the cell, in the depths of the quasar, lies a deep wisdom encoded in a unified chain of information. Let rigid atheists and biblical literalists take a pass, but this book deserves widespread circulation among readers still alive to the hidden harmonies of the universe. --Bryce Christensen Copyright © American Library Association.
